Venice - Mulino Stucky

Molino Stucky - a mill since 1833. The mill worked until 1955. The monster in imperial (neo-gothic) style we see now was constructed towards the end of the 19th century. In 2003 during reconstruction occured a ruinous fire. Now the reconstruction works ar almost completed and soon the Mulino Stucky should reopen as a Grand Hotel of the Hilton chain. New Digicam!

Here the F(ace)D(etection)-gimmick of the S6500 detected one face. Maybe it works on mooncalves too (LOL).

It's a couple of days now that I'm shooting with a new digicam. The new Fuji S6500 should be an upgrade to the S5600. Image quality seems OK. The picture above should sum up the improvement of the new cam over the old one (left crop: old cam - right crop: new cam).

Ahr/Aurino (Pusteria Valley)

Excursion in the "natural area" of the Aurino river (Pusteria Valley)
In this same river are the rapids where the action of "Rapids" by Tim Parks takes place (see http://vitaalpina.blogspot.com/2006/03/readings-rapids-by-tim-parks.html)

Sabiona (Klausen/Chiusa)

Sabiona: this is one of the very important historical sites in the Tyrolean territory. It was the first seat of the local bishopric (Sabiensis episcopus) from about AD 500. About AD 1000 the bishop moved his seat to Brixen/Bressanone.

At the foot of Sabiona there is a very small town, Klausen/Chiusa. Here I had an excellent beer (local brew).
