Altenburg/Castelvecchio - St. Kummernus

 Altenburg is a tiny hamlet near Kaltern with some remarkable remnants of older times (see also 2 older posts on this blog: 2008 May 15 and 2008 May 23)

Kaltern/Caldaro

Kaltern/Caldaro, about 15 km from Bolzano, is very famous for its wine production.

Bolzano - Eisack River

 The Eisack/Isarco River in Bolzano, just after the Loreto bridge. Rapids on the one side (image above) - quiet like a pond on the other side (image below).

In between I caught this heron, a rare species to be seen in Bolzano.

In springtime you can observe here various families of ducks - female ducks with their ducklings at the first outings in the river, a veritable kinderstube for these tiny youngsters.

Bolzano/Bozen - Remembering the Old Theater

The old theater had a rather short life: opened in 1918 it fell in ruins after bombardements in WWII (1943)
