This is where I live in - right behind the cedar tree. It's one of the oldest buildings of Bolzano. My landlady is the grand-grand-granddaughter of Dr Joseph Streiter, in his times a very distinct personality, for some time he's also been the mayor of Bolzano. In the local library I found some of his writings: some novels, dramas, essays.
Excursion in the Alps in the 1930ties - photograph in Two Lives by Vikram Seth, a very interesting narration of human destinies in the last century. Vikram has been living, like his uncle Shanti, mostly abroad (London, New York). In chapter 5.23 he writes about his voyage to Biswan, the hometown of Shanti uncle and of Vikram's maternal grandfather:
Last night I finished reading this outstanding book by Vikram Seth. Some month ago I had the pleasure to read his An Equal Music, a marvellous novel about music (classical) and musicians in contemporary Europe. It's quite unique!
